Mt. Whitney, Half Dome, Angel's Landing, Subway, Death Valley mega vacation
This was an Adrian trip with a fair bit of time on my own. An intense trip that left me feeling “adventured-out” at the end. Even though the trip I was thinking “can we not do a walk or hike that does not involve risking my life?”.
Highlights:
1) Climbing Half Dome on a beautiful clear day while on the mountains on the other side of the valley large forest fires burned. It is like climbing the biggest single rock you have ever seen. The fires were big enough this year that some days they covered and hid complete mountains. Fortunately for us, on the days of our hikes up these mountains, the smoke was somewhere else.
2) Climbing Mount Whitney. The John Muir trail on the west of Mount Whitney leading up to the peak is epicly beautiful. I did the entire hike powered by milk, all the way up down from Whitney Portal.
3) Zion. I was not interested in Zion enough to pursue investigating it on my own, but with Adrian and crew I did Subway, Angel's Landing and The Narrows. Subway was probably my most favorite because it looked the strangest.
4) Death Valley. I got the chance to show them and win them over to some the beautiful places I like to hang out in such as the Eureka Dunes, and Saline Valley using Steelpass to get there.
5) My ride. I had a Jeep Rubicon and no co-driver. Such a fine car to enjoy some quality time in the desert with.
