Circle Tour of Death Valley and around the Grand Canyon

Lucky Las Vegas. Check out what 40 CAD and some luck with get you in terms of accommodation in Las Vegas. After my night in the town I went to my fav interesting place, Death Valley. I started out with a hike to the highest mountain in the region. It was a 22km round trip that passed through another peak. Next time I’ll bring some water with. My second night in the Valley was spent in the isolated, yet so haunting Racetrack Playa. There I collected some nice bright green samples of malachite and met a an artsy pair out from LA out for a little off exploring and off roading of their own.

Crossing through Las Vegas I went to the Havasupai Indian reservation with it’s unique blue waterfalls, and Monument Valley beyond. Monument Valley being a point of singular and unique attraction to me. It’s so beautiful. I camped out there and watched a spectacular sunrise among the buttes. After that buttes it was my trip back to LV. On the way back I made it point to visit the scrap steel dinosaur art park. On the flight back, while the aircraft was waiting for a takeoff slot, the pilots issued an invitation for passengers to come up and see their cockpit. I immediately took this chance. 200 other people in the aircraft and I was the only one curious enough to come up and have a look.
