Things you'll find in the Jungle.

The jungle hike in Bora Bora was very interesting. The guide was a passionate archeologist and historian. He lead the group to an ancient temple site. I remember as I was being explained the layout and significance of one of the locations, thinking I’ll bet this is the kind of place James Cameron based Avitar on. Later I was told that in fact James Cameron had visited this area, and our tour guide had given him exactly this tour about 3 years ago.

It is a very gentle jungle. There are no wild animals and the mosquitoes are much less numerous and aggressive than the ones back home. And, again, unlike home, there are no black flies, horse flies or deer flies. It also amuses me you can pluck bananas and grapefruits off the trees and eat them as you go along. I didn’t see or eat any local avocados, but I know that that are around since I have seen the local dogs go into the forest and return with avocados which they happily eat all on their own.
